100 KM COMPETITORS (JANUARY 2015) ARE LISTED BELOW

Danny Chan -100k (CHN / HKG)

A theatre actor and director and Now TV artist. In 2011, Danny first produced a TV show on running entitled "Danny Walker". He has since attended different trail runs in Hong Kong, including the 2012 26km Moon Trekker; the 2013-14 100km Oxfam Trail Walks; the 2014 38km Grace Charity Double Trail Run; and the 2014 57km Totem Run. The Antarctic 100k will be Danny's first overseas run.

Kason Fok - 100k (CHN / HKG)

A 33-year-old Associate Director of the largest Independent Financial Advisor Company in Hong Kong. Kason completed the 2013 UVU North Pole Marathon and represented Convoy Hearts when completing the 254km Marathon Des Sables in the Sahara Desert in 2012, raising funds for underprivileged students in China in the process. He also completed the Hong Kong Oxfam Trail Walker and HK100km in 2014. Kason hopes to run 7 marathons on 7 different continents and enjoys the combination of running and travelling.

Andrew Lai - 100k (CHN / HKG)

An amateur ultramarathon runner for less than 4 years. As part of the Convoy Hearts team, Andrew completed the Marathon des Sables in 2012, raising funds for unprivileged student in China. He also finished the Oxfam Hong Kong Trailwalker (100km mountain race) the same year. He also participated in HK100 (another 100km mountain ultra) to raise funds to sponsor visually impaired marathoners to race abroad, as well as completing the Hong Kong and Kyoto marathons in early 2013. Together with "Green Monday - Convoy Hong Kong Team" Andrew also ran the North Pole Marathon in 2013 to raise public awareness on saving our planet and to promote environmentally friendly living - go green on Mondays! Andrew is Associate Director of Convoy Financial Services - a listed independent financial advisory in Hong Kong. 

Keith Leung - 100k (CHN / HKG)

A 24-year-old senior financial consultant from Hong Kong. Keith has discovered a love of seeing the world via running, "seeing the beauties and wonders of this amazing planet with the use of our legs". Having run the Marathon des Sables, Hong Kong 100km trail walker, North Pole Marathon , Mourne Way Trail Marathon and Villarrica  Volcano 70km ultra marathon in Chile, he is aiming at joining the North Pole Marathon Grand Slam Club. He will only have two events remaining to do do after completing the Antarctic 100k. He hopes to show the younger generation in Hong Kong that everybpdy can fulfil theirs dreams despite a negative attitide towards the post-90s generation from older generations and the press.

Steve Lo - 100k (CHN / HKG)

A 33-year-old who successfully completed the 254km Marathon des Sables and Hong Kong Oxfam Trail Walker in 2012 as well as the North Pole Marathon in 2013. Steve represented the Convoy Hearts team in these events, which was fundraising  to enable poor Chinese sudents to go to University. The Antarctic 100k will now be his seventh continent and he will become a member of both The 7 Continents Marathon Club and the Grand Slam Club by completing it. Steve likes to share the experience of every marathon, spreading a “never give up” message to everyone, especially those struggling with difficulty in their lives.  

Kevin McGeeney - 100k (IRL)

A 44-year-old Irish native who has been living near Lausanne, Switzerland for the past eight years. Since taking up ultra-running in 2003 Kevin has completed over 25 ultras and managed a string of top ten finishes, though he says typically in races with less than ten finishers! His most memorable events include the Marathon des Sables, Davos 78km, Verbier X-trail, Israel’s yam to yam 144km and the Longford Ultra in Ireland. As CEO of SCB, the world’s largest renewable energy brokerage firm, Kevin is familiar with issues of climate change  is looking forward to seeing Antarctica so that he "can explain first hand to his two girls, Fie (8) and Liv (7) what it looked like before it melted".

Simon Silin - 100k (USA)

A 29-year-old who only started running recently, competing in his first ultra-marathon in April of 2014. Simon started athletics training in January 2014 , having not run a single mile in the previous five years due to back problems. He then ran a 54km race in Israel and now runs socially, and mainly for charity, in New York City where he lives. After the first run he was totally hooked and has been running almost daily, using running as his mode of transport throughout the City. Simon hopes to complete the 7 continent schallenge over the next few yearss, which he believes will be a fantastic way to see and appreciate the land.  

Shun Yin Tang - 100k (CHN / HKG)

Shun Yin (Chris) took part in the Sahara Race in Jordan earlier this year. He is looking forward to his second opportunity to compete overseas and even more opportunitiies in the future.

Keith Whyte - 100k (IRL)

The Irish 100km record holder, Keith set his PB of 7:03:53 hrs at the Night of Flanders race in Belgium in June 2013. He has represented Ireland at both Trail World Championships and World 100km Championships and was part of the Irish team that finished 6th at the 100k World Championships in April 2012. He subsequently won the Anglo Celtic Plate 100km (Home Nations) in June 2012. Keith keeps a blog at http://keithwhyteultrarunning.blogspot.com/.

Quincy Wong - 100k (HKG)

With eight years experience of long-distance running, Quincy has a goal of “7+2+1” - completing marathons on seven continents, at both Polres and the Sahara Desert. He has already completed various marathons in different regions, including two of the most grueling races in the world - “the Sultan Marathon Des Sables 2011” and “the UVU North Pole Marathon 2013”. As the Chairman of a Hong Kong public listed company - Convoy Financial Group - Quincy always wishes to raise public awareness of different social issues by participating in various community activities. To promote environmental protection, he is the Ambassador of Green Monday as well as Sharksavers. This year, Quincy will partner with his Convoy’team and a graduate of Christian Zheng Sheng College to challenge the Antarctic 100K Expedition. In doing so, he hopes to deliver the value of perseverance to Zheng Sheng students, as well as raise funds for the College’s “Overall Condition Improvement Project”. Christian Zheng Sheng College was founded in 1985 and is the only drug rehabilitation school in Hong Kong.
